Maseru, Feb. 24 — Throughout the recent visit by Minister of Natural Resources, Mr. Mohlomi Moleko to key sites of the Lesotho Highlands Water Project (LHWP), robust discussions were held regarding the progress of infrastructure development, plans for restoring livelihoods, socio-economic benefits stemming from the project, and its overall impact on local communities.
The visit, conducted by the Lesotho Highlands Development Authority (LHDA), underscored the government of Lesotho’s unwavering commitment to the ongoing success and sustainability of this vital transboundary initiative.
Accompanied by key officials, including the LHDA Chief Executive Mr. Tente Tente, the Chief Delegates of the Lesotho Highlands Water Commission from Lesotho and South Africa, and Mr. Lehlomela Phakisi the LHDA Board Chairman, the Minister began his tour at the ‘Muela Hydropower Station.
At ‘Muela, the Minister inspected ongoing maintenance works on the LHWP tunnels, reinforcing the importance of keeping the infrastructure in prime condition.
