MINISTRY TO HELP IN FIGHT AGAINST RECENT ANIMAL DISEASE

Maseru, Mar.20 — The Minister of Agriculture, Food Security and Nutrition has announced that the government of Lesotho has come up intervention measures of offering free medication for animals in the fight against the recent outbreak of ‘blue tongue’ disease which has been discovered in a number of areas across the country.

In his remarks while making this announcement, the Minister Mr. Thabo Mofosi indicated that the medication will be given out to suppress the spread if the disease to the already infected animals in the districts and will be administered by veterinary doctors within the districts.

He said that due to the rate which this disease is fast spreading throughout the country, the issuance of this medication will be free but after putting the disease under control, the medication will now pay for the medication of prevention. . .
