MoET CONCERNED ABOUT DROPOUTS RATE

Maseru, Jan. 09 — With January being the month of schools reopening, the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) has expressed concern over the high rate of drop outs.

This was revealed by the ministry’s Director Planning, Mrs. Lineo Mokitimi where she said that though they have not completed compiling data for drop outs but preliminary reports have shown that there is a high number of dropouts in post primary schools across the country.

She said that a number of issues including poverty, unemployment of parents, neglection, child labour, child marriage and no money may have contributed to children dropping out of school.
