NICR SERVICES RESUME IN QACHA’S NEK

Qacha’s Nek, Sept. 30 — Residents of Qacha’s Nek are celebrating the long-awaited resumption of National Identity Card (ID) services, after months of delays.

Mr. Tumaki Mahao, Director of the Department of National Identity and Civil Registration (NICR) under the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftainship, Home Affairs, and Police announced the resumption of services on Monday.

Operations had been stalled since early September when 58 temporary workers stopped working due to unpaid salaries dating back to June 2024.

One of the residents who opted for anonymity said she is happy and it’s long over due.

“The first thing I will do tomorrow morning is go apply for an ID,” she said.
