OVER 70 FAMILIES RECEIVE SEEDS TO BOOST FOOD SECURITY

Qacha’snek, March 05- A total of 77 families in Ha Mosuoe village have received high-quality vegetable seeds aimed at improving household food security, nutrition, and supporting the local economy.

The seeds were distributed through a joint initiative involving the District Council Secretary (DCS), a member of Parliament for  Tso like Constituency,   Ha Mosuoe chieftainess , and the local councillor.

District Council Secretary Mr Sebata Mikelloa said Ha Mosuoe is among the villages that demonstrate strong community initiative.

He noted that residents are already engaged in several development projects, which motivated the decision to support them.

“Ha Mosuoe is one of the villages that are trying very hard to improve their livelihoods. They are not expecting everything to be handed to them on a silver platter. I decided to meet them halfway with these seeds because they are already doing something. I have seen more than three projects being run in this village,” said Mikelloa.

Ha Mosuoe Councillor Mr Hlompho Monamatha also emphasised that the initiative aims to encourage households to grow their own vegetables and crops for domestic consumption.

“This programme is meant to motivate families to grow vegetables and other crops that will help sustain their households,” he said.

In an interview with the Agency, one of the beneficiaries, Mrs Malerato Mohasi, expressed gratitude to those who contributed towards the initiative.

“It is a great honour for us to have been considered for this support, and these seeds are going to help us a lot. We are truly thankful,” she said.

A total of R1,200 was raised to purchase the seeds, with each of the 77 families receiving 10 seed packs.
