Berea, Feb. 09 — The Ministry of Gender, Youth and Social Development launched a pensioner registration and verification initiative in Teyateyaneng on Monday, aimed at confirming the eligibility of beneficiaries and strengthening accountability within the pension system.
During an interview with the Agency pensioner, Mr. Tebalo Ramolelekoa welcomed the programme, stating that it will help combat corruption and improve transparency in the administration of pension funds.
He said the initiative demonstrates the Ministry’s commitment to safeguarding social assistance programmes and maintaining stability by ensuring that resources are distributed fairly.
The Ministry has underscored the critical need for pensioners to be properly linked to their local councils and traditional leaders, highlighting that this connection is key to maintaining accurate records and streamlining the verification process within communities.
This initiative forms part of a broader registration drive aimed at ensuring that pension beneficiaries are alive and correctly registered in their respective areas.
