Maseru, Sept. 16 — The Leader of United Africans Transformation (UAT), Dr. Mahali Phamotse, has announced a sponsorship worth over M1 million for B Division soccer teams across Lesotho.
Unveiling the package, Dr. Phamotse said the sponsorship will provide each of the 10 districts with eight soccer kits, two free driver’s licenses, M10,000 in cash, championship trophies and training on lightning safety to protect players during matches and practice sessions.
She emphasized that the initiative seeks to empower young people and strengthen the country’s sporting performance. “Soccer is our identity. A country that performs poorly in football risks being invisible on the world stage. This support is meant to ensure our players are not just participants, but strong competitors,” Dr. Phamotse said.
She further highlighted the importance of political commitment, stressing that improving football standards also requires better playing facilities.
