Mohale’s Hoek, Jan. 08 — The Senior Curriculum Specialist in the Ministry of Education and Training, Mpho Sekhosana indicates that all schools which are piloting the new curriculum need all the support from the Ministry for the initiative to become a success.
Sekhosana stated this in an interview with the Agency amid a 5 day training held for Scientific and Technological subjects (Science, Agriculture, Food and Nutrition and Fashion and Textile), teachers from all districts who will be teaching grade 8 when schools reopen for the year 2025, by asserting that education policy has previously been reviewed which brought about changes in the scope and sequence charts, syllabus and standards hence the need to train teachers on what to pass on to the learners effectively.
On the other hand, a similar training has been held for the Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) teachers, whereby the National Teacher Trainer Puleng Maleke articulates that this follows some challenges teachers faced with the previous curriculum, which lead to the remedial training.
Meanwhile, the Ministry’s Legal Department has also held a 1 day workshop for principals who have been in acting positions and have just been made permanent and pensionable, whereby the Director Santi Mofoka was enlightening them about the codes of good practice, principals roles and responsibilities in their various schools, and the workshop has been attended by principals from 3 Centers, namely Phamong, Mpharane and Taung respectively.
