POULTRY BAN STILL ON

Maseru, Oct.31—Five days since the famous KFC temporarily closed doors at all its Lesotho restaurants due to unavailability of chicken, and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Nutrition has confirmed that ban of importation of chicken is still on.

In a brief interview on Tuesday, Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Nutrition Chief Information Officer Mr. Lereko Masupha told the Agency that the importation of chicken is still banned in the country until further notice saying that this will be until there are reports stating otherwise on the bird flu and the two countries have reached an agreement.

Mr. Masupha emphasized that import of poultry products from South Africa was banned earlier this month due to birds’ flu to prevent infection which could negatively affect poultry produce of Basotho. . .
