GOVT INTERVENES TO PREVAILING FOOD CRISIS

Maseru, May 08 – The Government of Lesotho has put aside M100, 104.160 Million that will be used as intervention to the prevailing food insecurity in the country.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, Mr. Limpho Tau made the statement in the National Assembly on Wednesday saying based on the Lesotho Vulnerability Assessment Committee (LVAC) report made between May and June last year an estimated 581, 000 Basotho faced food crises in the country.

He said this number translated to 145, 250 households, saying this statistics could be even more this year since the Bureau of Statistics and LVAC are yet to conduct a new study on the summer harvesting in order to enable the government to take appropriate action. . .
