Maseru, Oct. 10 — Dressed in their sporting regalia, Public Officers from different Ministries converged at Philips factories on Wednesday morning to celebrate their day.
The 2025 Public Service Day festivities started with a 10km half Marathon from the said factories to LCS playgrounds where other activities will follow.
On behalf of the organising committee, Mr. Thafeng Makhobeng from the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) told officers the Marathon is meant to test their fitness ahead of finals on Monday, November 20 to 25.
He alluded that trophies will be allocated to Ministries who will come out top.
Meanwhile, one of the runners from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Mrs. ‘Mampho Ts’oaeli reiterated that this exercise is interesting as they get to meet their colleagues from other Ministries.
“Public Service Day is about us winning together for the sake of the society, thus we are delighted the government brought back this activity after its stoppage a few years ago,” she stressed.
She concluded that even though some have not attended due to other work schedules, those present will make the best use of this time.
The day is celebrated annually on June 23 with the aim to honour and acknowledge efforts of Public Officers in delivering services to communities.
