Qacha’s Nek, Jan. 16 — The 2024 Lesotho General Certificate of Secondary Education (LGCSE) results for Qacha’s Nek district have sparked mixed reactions, as the district ranked sixth with a 62.64 percent pass rate, on par with Butha-Buthe, which ranked fifth.
Mafeteng topped the rankings with 64.78 percent, followed closely by Mohale’s Hoek at 64.6 percent.
Other districts’ results include Leribe at 64.49 percent, Thaba-Tseka at 64.48 percent, Maseru at 59.52 percent, Berea at 59.3 percent, Mokhotlong at 50.63 percent, and Quthing at the bottom with 44.94 percent.
While Qacha’s Nek showed an improvement from last year’s 57.5 percent, local officials expressed dissatisfaction with the district’s current ranking.
In an interview with the Agency, District Education Manager Mr. Lebenya Mothibeli called the rise in performance “remarkable,” but stated that he will not be satisfied until the district regains and sustains the top spot it held in 2022. . .
