QUEEN CALLS FOR SUPPORT OF ELDERLY PEOPLE

Berea, Oct 13 — In commemoration of the International Day of Older Persons, Queen Masenate Mohato Seeiso joined the celebration with Berea people on Friday where she called for concerted efforts in protecting and safeguarding elderly people.

During the national event held at the Teyateyaneng Youth Centre under the theme, “Resilience of Older Persons in a Changing World”, Queen Masenate presented gifts to identified elderly people.

Delivering keynote address Queen highlighted that senior citizens need to be protected at all means because they are a blessing to every younger person, adding that they are instrumental in lives and can be like valuable books full of information where everyone can learn.

However, she stressed that this year’s theme reminds everyone that the world is changing at an alarming rate with technological innovations and internet usage, but find young people still left behind.

Queen Masenate said it is the responsibility of every individual to join forces and give support to the elderly as they keep up with and adapt resilience to the technological innovation and internet usage.
