SENATOR MOSHOESHOE ADVOCATES FOR GENDER-SENSITIVE GOVERNANCE

Maseru, Aug. 22– The Chairperson for Health Health, Nutrition and Gender Committee Senator ‘Makholu Moshoeshoe has presented a report before the House on Gender mainstreaming workshop which comprehensively sought to enhance participants’s knowledge and understanding of gender mainstreaming and gender-responsive budgeting.

In her report, Senator Moshoeshoe indicated that the intention of the workshop was to provide an opportunity for Parliament to ensure that perspectives of women and men with different backgrounds are considered, and that those who experience gender intersecting inequalities are not left behind.

Senator Moshoeshoe said among the topics that were touched on was the issue of legal frameworks that exclude intersectionality, saying from what they are taught, such people should be included as they form part of society. . .
