SPATE OF SCHOOL BREAK-INS LEAVES COMMUNITY SHAKEN

Qacha’s Nek, Aug.19 — On Monday, the staff of Nts’upeng Primary School arrived to a devastating scene of yet another break-in, with stolen food supplies and extensive property damage.

The school’s principal, Mrs. ‘Maelia Sehlabo, described the scene with frustration, noting that windows had been shattered, lockers and burglar bars tampered with, and essential food items such as maize meal, Samp and peas stolen.

“This is becoming a norm in our school,” Mrs. Sehlabo lamented in an interview, revealing that despite recently installing burglar-proofing measures, the break-ins have persisted. We are continuously having to repair our windows. It seems the culprits know exactly where to strike.”

She noted that this was the third break-in at the school this year alone. “Every time we reopen the school, we brace ourselves to find something missing. Often, we only realize what’s gone when we need to use it,” she added. . .
