Maseru, Nov. 25—14 illegal miners were arrested when they came out of the shaft during the rescue operation in the North West Province at a disused Stilfontein mine shaft.
National police spokesperson, Brigadier Athlenda Mathe said the illegal miners were arrested on Sunday and all of them are from Mozambique.
Mathe was quoted saying “A total of 14 illegal miners resurfaced last night. They are all Mozambicans and are all in police cells. Operations continue”.
On Sunday morning Brigadier Mathe said the emergence of the miners shows that they are not trapped at all but are down there willingly..
