Leribe, Dec. 02 — The need for authorized subordinates in different government ministries or departments have been highlighted to be amongst important strategies to foster quality production in delivering services to the public.
This was noted by the supervisors attending a five-day training hosted by Lesotho Institute of Public Administration and Management (LIPAM) at Hlotse in Leribe.
The supervisors said provision of authorised subordinates or official assistants in their departments’ leads to continuation of public services being rendered to the people appropriately despite their absence.
Others who opted for anonymity said they are not able to enjoy their annual leave as anytime they are called in to solve some work matters when at home or out of the country on holidays.

Hence they attributed that having authorized assistants given full responsibility to adhere to their duties during their absence makes operations run smoothly.
They said some duties are put on hold during their absence, citing signing of certain documents.
However, they said they appoint assistants interchangeably to stand in for them, one today, and another tomorrow just to keep the office running in their absence.
Moreover, they said in some cases they are reluctant to give full responsibility to subordinates as they are protecting important documents. . .
