TRANSITIONAL JUSTICE VITAL FOR ACCOUNTABILITY – SITHETHO

MASERU – To achieve accountability, reconciliation, justice and for prevention of future atrocities, the National Reforms Transitional Office (NRTO) through the Ministry of Law and Justice aspires for Transitional Justice Policy (TJP).

This was evidenced by the recent Transitional Justice forum whose intention was to help in the formulation of a road map for TJP, thus aligning with that of the African Union (AU).

NRTO Special Advisor – Media Reforms, Mr. Mzimkhulu Sithetho highlighted the importance of Transitional Justice, especially at this time when Lesotho is going through the process of reforms.

He said this is an important aspect of building eternal peace in the country as it is all about healing societal wounds, recognising victims as well as transforming institutions after conflict.

He explained that the government through support of NRTO has a task to ensure development of national transitional justice mechanisms, which form part of the country’s efforts for navigating pathways for lasting peace, unity and stability…
