WITNESS ACKNOWLEDGES MISTAKE

Maseru, Mar. 07 — Inspector Seutloali, a witness currently under cross-examination in the ongoing Mohale Dam Murder Trial, has on Thursday acknowledged a mistake made by the police during investigation of the case.

The witness was part of a Special Investigations Unit within the Lesotho Mounted Police Service (LMPS) which was tasked with investigations of cases including the current one. He acknowledged that they failed to record in writing their findings while at Setibing and Mohale Dam where the accused made pointing out.

He pointed out that they knew that had to happen, but it skipped their minds. He indicated that he has recorded his findings during a pointing out in several other cases which he has investigated before.

Cross-examination of Inspector Seutloali was yesterday interposed after he had a family medical emergency which he had to attend to. While he was not available, the prosecution led a Clerk of Court from the Maseru Magistrate’s Court Mr. Atang Mampa as well as Magistrate Peete Molapo whose testimonies focused on confession and process followed during the process.
