WORLD VISION CALLS FOR DCPT SUPPORT ON ENDING CHILD LABOUR

Berea, July 10 — World Vision Lesotho (WVL) has called for concerted efforts and support of District Child Protection Team (DCPT) Berea on ending child labour in communities in the best interest of the children.

WVL Project Coordinator for Accelerating Action for Elimination of Child Labour and Forced Labour (AECFL) Mrs. Selina Kose made the remarks during the DCPT meeting staged at District Administrators’ boardroom on Wednesday.

Mrs. Selina said the reports indicate that 30.1 percent of children in Lesotho aged between five and 14 are working, however there is still a thin line which need to be clarified between child labour and child work as per Basotho cultural practices who proclaim to train children for adulthood activities. . .
