YOUNG ENTREPRENEUR TURNS HANDMADE BOUQUETS INTO GROWING BUSINESS

Berea, March 25 —  A 21 year-old entrepreneur from Teyateyaneng Berea, Ms. Mafule Khemi has turned a simple idea of making personal bouquets into a growing small business by selling handmade bouquets.

During an interview with the Agency, Ms. Khemi stated that her business began in August 2025, shortly after the release of examination results, when she decided to create a graduation bouquet for herself.

She further stated that after completing her first design, she realized the potential to generate income by producing more bouquets for others.

Ms. Khemi further stated that she is currently operating by selling her bouquets directly to customers while also supplying a shopping and retail business in Maseru, expanding her reach within the market.

“In doing so, I do not only sustain my own business but also support the retail sector by ensuring a steady flow of goods, thereby contributing to economic growth,” she said.

However, Ms. Khemi noted that one of the main difficulties she faces is the seasonal nature of demand, as certain periods, such as graduation season, bring higher sales while other times result in limited cash inflow.

Despite this, Ms. Khemi highlighted the role of social media in helping her business gain visibility and attract customers. In particular, she said online platforms have become a key tool in advertising her work and reaching a wider audience.

While highlighting the challenges she faces, Ms. Khemi pointed out that managing a high volume of orders alone can be overwhelming, as she currently does not have additional staff to assist her.

Looking ahead, Ms. Khemi expressed her ambition to open a shop in Teyateyaneng to expand her operations and strengthen her brand presence while also creating employment and contributing to economic growth.

Furthermore, she stated hopes to extend her services to South Africa through flower deliveries, although transportation remains a key challenge.
