200 YEARS MEMO NOT  HONOURED

Maseru, March 15 — Despite the government having issued a memo urging the society to wear national flag colours in celebration of 200 years every Friday, many were seen in the city dressed in their usual attires.

Speaking in an interview about this, a member of Parliament, Mr. Mokhothu Makhalanyane told the Agency while 200 years mark a significant milestone in the history of the nation, many seem not to be curious.

This he stated may be attributed to high rate of unemployment leaving many hungry, thereby not being interested about anything that does not put food on their tables.

His views were echoed by one Mr. Mokuena Matekane of Ha Thamae who said government should think in terms of raising more and more awareness about Morena Moshoeshoe beyond March 11 as well as engaging the society regularly on issues of 200 years so that they fully understand what this is in terms of history and how to embrace it.
