Maseru, Feb. 10 — Minister of Education and Training, Professor Ntoi Rapapa has officially announced March 27th set for the second annual Prime Minister’s Education Charity Golf Day to be held at Maseru Club.
This he disclosed during a media briefing on Tuesday where he said this will preceed a fundraising and award giving dinner later on the said day.
The initiative is part of the government’s ongoing commitment to improving access to quality education in particular for learners from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Professor Rapapa said this is not only a sporting and social event but an important platform to mobilise resources and partnerships in support of education.
He said they draw encouragement from the growing interest and compassion shown by corporates, individuals and development partners in this event.
He mentioned that this second edition reinforces the momentum while at the same time strengthening partnerships and broadening participation in this noble cause.
Therefore he pleaded with members of the private sector, organizations and people of goodwill to take part and support this beautiful initiative.
Moreover, he indicated that education remains the foundation of the nation’s development, highlighting that initiatives like this one demonstrate what could be achieved when there is collaboration between government and society for the benefit of the children and future of Lesotho.
On the other hand, the first edition of the event in 2025 raised over M1 million to support children with disabilities and those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Different assistive devices including wheelchairs, crutches, special creams, walkers, spectacles, braille, medication, tablets and school shoes were bought from the 2025 funds.
The event is hosted by UNICEF, Econet Telecom Lesotho and Vodacom Lesotho.
