Mohale’s Hoek, Nov. 07 — The District Agricultural Officer Mrs ‘Malerato Lekhooa has confirmed that women will represent 50% of people directly involved in the newly launched Wool and Mohair Value Chain Project, (WaMcoP), while youth aged 18-35 will represent 35% of beneficiaries, with the special focus to be placed on people living with disabilities.
Mrs. Lekhooa noted this at a workshop held for the Planning and Implementation Team, courtesy of World Vision Lesotho, by stating that the project will be targeting Smallholder Wool and Mohair farmers, small breeders who will each be given 20 Merino Sheep to upgrade production, stating this is a 7-year-project funded by IFAd with about M 1,269 349.57 (US$ 72, 644).
She articulated that the project’s main objective is to increase the economic and climate change resilience of Wool And Mohair farmers livelihoods, in line with the National Strategic Development Plan II. . .
