PARTY MEMBERS SEEK TO BLOCK CONFERENCE

Maseru, Nov.07 — Some members of the Basotho National Party (BNP) have approached the high court on urgent basis seeking an interdict for the upcoming Party’s general conference scheduled for November 15-17 2024.

Mahlompho Selikane, the Party’s Secretary for Mphosong Constituency and Rampoetsi Tjeloane, the Party’s Secretary for Qalo Constituency stated that they are not satisfied with the process followed by the Party in preparing for the conference as it violates the Constitution of the Party, hence the application. They indicated that they failed to hold the conference during the stipulated period as it appears in the Constitution of the Party. They insisted that the conference should have been held in February or March.

They complained that a large number of people who are constitutionally prescribed invitees to the conference, never got invitations to the planned conference while others got them late on October 16 2024. They added that out of the 80 constituencies, only seven were served with circulars inviting them to the conference. . .
