Maseru, April 01 — With new electricity prices being effective today April 01, consumers are crying foul that these new prices mean less units.
Speaking in an interview one Mrs. ‘Makamohelo Jaase said that she used to get about 67 units for M100 saying that now she got only 58 units which she said would last less than 2 weeks.
She said that this is very worrying especially since next week Monday maize meal prices are also going up.
She urged the government to consider the poor and introduce subsidies in both maize meal and electricity.
Another Mrs. ‘Malerato Sehlooho reiterated saying that with these price hikes life is going to be hard.
She added that the government should work towards striving for better lives for Basotho, saying that Lesotho is now going from bad to worse.
Meanwhile Section 2 had earlier written to Lesotho Electricity and Water Authority (LEWA) challenging the electricity tariff increase.
