BY CONDUCT, HE CROSSED FLOOR-LAWYER

Maseru, Dec. 03 — Advocate Kabelo Letuka has on Tuesday told the High Court that the conduct of Mr. Mohlominyane Tota, a Member of Parliament for United For Change (UFC), when he changed seats in the National Assembly, constitutes floor-crossing.

This he said when arguing in a case in which the party is asking for review of a determination by the Speaker of the National Assembly that the movement of Mr.Tota was not floor-crossing.

The determination by the Speaker was made after Mr. Tota wrote a letter to the Speaker stating his intention to move from the seat he was allocated when sworn-in as an MP. It is stated that in the letter he indicated that he wanted to move to the seat where he would be comfortable to perform his duties as the MP.

It is further stated that the UFC had mandated him to sit where he would be able to support the government but he violated that mandate by choosing to support the opposition.
