BOMBINGS TRIAL TO PROCEED NEXT YEAR

Maseru, Dec.12— A case in which Retired Commander of the Lesotho Defence Force (LDF) Lieutenant General Tlali Kamoli and four army members are accused of the bombings that occurred in 2014 has been scheduled to proceed on April 15-16 and 27-28 2026 with further hearing dates set for May 11 2026.

This week the court heard evidence from, among others, experts in explosives from the South African Police Service (SAPS) comprising Colonel Dijwe and Lieutenant Colonel Mokete Nyama. Both witnesses have told the court that in January 2014 they came to Lesotho to assist the Lesotho Mounted Police Service (LMPS) with post blast investigations following explosions at the home of Liabiloe Ramoholi at Moshoeshoe II and the home of the then Commissioner of Police (COMPOL) Khothatso Tsooana at Ha Abia.

They each testified that following their investigations, they each discovered that a 40 millimetre HE (High Explosive) device was used for the attacks at both homes. They classified the device under military weapons.

The witnesses took the stand after a Forensic Scientist Mr. Mofo Setloboko who was in 2014 working in the LMPS Forensic Laboratory who attended the crime scenes.

The retired army commander is in this case charged together with Pitso Ramoepane, Litekanyo Nyakane, Mohlalefi Seitlheko and Heqoa Malefane. The charges they are facing comprise attempted murder and malicious damage to property.

The alleged offences occurred at the home of Liabiloe Ramoholi at Moshoeshoe II and that of Former Commissioner of Police (COMPOL) Khothatso Tsooana at Ha Abia.

The case is before Justice Charles Hungwe.
