Maseru, Nov. 18 — Rasekoai siblings Nthei and ‘Mamphoka who are charged with the murder of their mother Martha ‘Masechache Rasekoai before the High Court, allege that their uncle Mr. Matlere Theko is responsible for the killing of the deceased.
The allegation emerged during cross-examination of Mr. Theko who was on the stand as one of the state witnesses in the matter.
Legal representative for the accused, Advocate Makhabane Masupha told the witness that in August 2022 while the investigations into the murder of the deceased were ongoing, one of the accused, Mamphoka, says she overheard the witness telling the police that if they arrest her and her sister, he would reward them. He added that the same accused also says that on May 11, 2023 when she had gone to the police to report an assault committed by the witness on her, the police complained that the witness had not yet paid them.
The prosecution has in this case already led six witnesses since yesterday when it commenced.
