Maseru, Aug. 15– As one of the measures to celebrate the 200 years of the nation’s existence and the friendship between the United Kingdom (UK) and Lesotho, the St. Mary and St. James Cathedral hosted a thanksgiving church service (Mass service) which was praised by the presence of King Letsie III and Queen ‘Masenate Mohato Seeiso. The mass was held in Maseru on Thursday.
In his welcome remarks, the British High Commissioner Mr. Harry MacDonald said Lesotho has historically maintained generally close ties with the UK hence they will always have respect for the founder of the Basotho nation.
He said the presence of the High Commissioner of the UK to Lesotho is true testimony of the commitment and efforts of both countries to maintain and strengthen ties of friendship.
He said the United Kingdom continues to work towards a more prosperous and secure future for Lesotho. Adding that their focus now is to improve infrastructural development, that will include tackling health issues, education and sports. . .
