Maseru, Sep. 23–The Organization of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD), under the leadership of Dr. Fatima Maada Bio, First Lady of Sierra Leone, is hosting a high- level side event on the margins of the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA80).
OAFLAD Communications Officer, Sharufa Amis says under the theme “Building Resilience for Women and Girls in the Face of Climate Change and Conflict”, the event underscores the urgent need to safeguard women and girls’ rights in conflict and climate-affected settings, ensuring uninterrupted access to health, education, and other essential services.
Amis said the gathering will bring together African First Ladies, Heads of State, policymakers, United Nations agencies, African Union representatives, civil society, donors, and influencers to discuss the intersection between climate, conflict, and gender, advocate for the implementation of gender-responsive policies in conflict and climate-affected regions and mobilize funding and partnerships to support women-led projects…
