BISHOP KGABE ATTAINS NEW POSITION

Maseru, Sept. 23 — The Anglican Church of Lesotho (ACL) Bishop, Dr. Vicentia  Refiloe Kgabe has been elected to serve as the next Bishop of the diocese of Pretoria, South Africa.

This follows a virtual meeting held by the Synod of Bishops of the Anglican Church of Southern Africa, for its second session of the year. This is in line with Canon 4 (12) which enables Bishops of the Province to elect a diocesan Bishop when the Elective Assembly of a diocese is unable to do so.

A letter from the Office of the Provincial Executive Officer, signed by Reverend Canon Grant Walters on behalf of other Bishops indicated Bishop Kgabe is meant to resume her duties with effect from this week, September 22.

Furthermore, Reverend Walters stipulated that this election, though historic, comes at the time when it will evoke a range of emotions among Christians in the Lesotho diocese, who have closely worked and walked with Bishop Kgabe.
