AFRICAN JOURNALISTS EXPLORE CHINA’S DEVELOPMENT

Jiangsu, China, Oct. 10 — African journalists have concluded a week-long tour of Chinese cities to learn about the country’s industrial development, agriculture, technological innovation and culture.

The tour covered Wuxi, Zhejiang, Taizhou and Yancheng under the China International Press Communication Centre (CIPCC) programme.

It forms part of activities marking the 2026 China-Africa Year of Cultural and People-to-People Exchange, aimed at strengthening relations between China and African countries.

In Wuxi, the journalists visited industrial enterprises and learned about manufacturing, technological innovation and textile production.

They also explored economic development and innovation initiatives in Zhenjiang, local industries and community development in Taizhou, and agriculture, ecological conservation and sustainable development in Yancheng.

The visits provided an opportunity for the journalists to interact with local businesses and exchange views on development and China-Africa cooperation.

One of the participants, Jacqueline Achan of Uganda’s Vision Group (New Vision), said the tour had broadened her understanding of China’s development experience.

She said the visits offered important lessons for Uganda and Africa, particularly on collaboration between government, research institutions and industry, investment in technology and sustainable development.

The programme is part of broader efforts to strengthen relations between China and Africa through media, cultural and professional exchanges.
