ANOTHER BATCH GOES FREE

Maseru, Sept.23—-Just a month after eight of the ten army members charged with the Mohale Dam murder were acquitted by the High Court, another batch of army members facing murder charges was on Tuesday freed.

The High Court through Justice Polo Banyane today acquitted five army members who were charged with the murder of three men, which occurred at Mafeteng in 2012.

Litekanyo Nyakane, Khauhelo Makoa, Sebilo Sebilo,Tsepo Tlhakeli andThebe Tsepe were alleged to  have shot and killed Thabang Mosole, Monyane Matsie and Pakiso Letatabe at Ha Motanyane in Mafeteng on April 07 2012.  It was alleged that the murders occurred following an altercation at one of the bars, between some of the accused and the deceased.

In her judgment in which she accepted an application for discharge which was moved by the accused, the judge stated that although there was an army base at Mafeteng, the accused have not been identified as culprits. She indicated that there is no evidence that connects them to the offence charged…
