Mokhotlong, Nov. 18 — Various stakeholders in issues related to youth protection, law enforcement and community support are attending a three day workshop on Anti-gangsterism strategy implementation in the district starting on Monday.
The main Facilitator, Superintendent Ndaonde Ratlake from the Lesotho Correctional Service (LCS) in Mokhotlong said the workshop is aimed at enhancing preventative measures as well as to implement a strategy to combat gangsterism and strengthen rehabilitation efforts for affected youth.
He added that the workshop has been organised following a rising concern regarding youth involvement in gang activities and the need to foster collaborative and strategic approach among stakeholders to control and manage gangsterism in the district.
He said gangsterism is like a subculture that needs to be controlled adding that research has shown that it (gangsterism) starts at a younger age in children and up to adults.
