Berea, May 07 — While the Lesotho Women Super League (WSL) teams enjoy the off season break, Berea Ladies FC together with other two local teams will take part in a four team tournament to be staged at Mejametalana Air wing football ground this weekend.
The International Friendly match tournament being hosted by LDF Ladies FC will see participation of other local teams including Lijabatho Ladies FC, Berea Ladies FC and Sunflower WFC from Mpumalanga, South Africa.
According to Berea Ladies FC Chairman, Mr. Lekhooa Thabaneng, having honoured an invite from LDF Ladies is not about keeping their players busy during the off season break, but they take every match seriously and as a result they are going to compete.
Mr. Thabaneng said they are using such tournaments to prepare their squad ahead of the WSL Top Four tournament scheduled for May 23 to 24 at Maputsoe and Mohale’s Hoek respectively.
He said as part of preparations, they have reinforced their squad with about six new players whereby four of them were sourced within Berea, while the two players come from Maseru and Leribe therefore they are going to use such a platform to weigh their strength.
Mr. Thabaneng said although they are going to that tournament with one player (Mahlapane Matete) out of play due to an injury picked during the league games, however the rest of the players are still in good condition.
Berea Ladies FC Chairman said during the recently completed WSL, they maintained position four, but with improved points secured as compared to last year.
Therefore, he said honouring such an invite also forms part of preparing for the next sporting season of 2026/2027.
During the recently wrapped WSL games, LDF Ladies continued their dominance with 50 points, while Lijabatho Ladies F.C emerged as the run ups with 40 points, Kick4Life claimed third position with 38 points and Berea Ladies F.C maintained the fourth position with 35 points, while Mawes Ladies and Villa Ladies got relegated.
