BOTHA-BOTHE DISASTER MANAGEMENT TEAM VISITS MINES

Botha-Bothe, Mar 25—The Botha-Bothe Disaster Management Team (DDMT) conducted a three-day visit this past week to the two operational mines within the district.

The Disaster Management Officer Mr. Phano Ntene, highlighted that the purpose of the visit was to assess disaster risks present at the mines and to understand the emergency response measures implemented by them.

“It’s crucial for the mines and the disaster management team to collaborate. This ensures that in the event of an emergency, the mines know whom to contact for assistance. While the mines contribute significantly to local communities and the country’s development, it’s essential to recognize that development comes with its own set of disaster risks,” Mr. Ntene explained…
