MINISTRY RAISES CONCERNS OVER LIVING CONDITIONS

Botha-Bothe, May 07 – The Ministry of Gender, Youth, and Social Development has expressed concern over the living conditions in a compound in Botha-Bothe town, citing numerous issues including the violation of children’s rights, the use of vulgar language, and noise pollution that affects neighbouring residents.

In an interview, Mr. Horoto Horoto, the Coordinating Officer for the Botha-Bothe Department of Social Development, highlighted the department’s commitment to protecting children from harmful environments. “Recent research shows that the compound subjects children to various harmful behaviour,” he explained.

Mr. Horoto detailed the adverse conditions within the compound. “Children are forced to collect cans, boxes, and other items from local shops for their parents, who use these materials to brew traditional beer sold on the premises. Moreover, these children, burdened with carrying heavy items for shoppers, are often seen on the streets during school hours, clearly not attending school as they should.” . . .
