CASE DEFERRED TO APRIL 29

Mokhotlong, April 15 — The Mokhotlong Senior Resident Magistrate Mr. Monyake Hlabanyane has deferred a case in which a 41 year-old man, Lehlohonolo Elia Makotoane is charged with contravention of Section 40 (1) of the Penal Code 2010 to April 29 this year.

The Magistrate made the deferment in the Mokhotlong Magistrate Court on Monday. This was after the Prosecutor of the case Adv. Mongolo Mohapinyane and the Lawyer defending the accused submitted their closing addresses on the case.

Mr. Hlabanyane said the reason to defer the case was to allow the Court time to do its own research based on the closing addresses made today to facilitate expedition of the case to South Africa or not.

The accused, Makotoane is charged with contravention of section 40 (1) of the Penal Code 2010 in that upon or about the September 22 in 2023 and at or near Mount Crest Guest House in the district of Mokhotlong, the said accused did unlawfully and intentionally kill one Mamello ‘Maatlehang Thamae Makotoane by strangulating and suffocating her and did thereby commit the crime of murder.

Makotoane is alleged to be a resident of Ha Mabote, Maseru who lived in Heilbronn, South Africa together with the deceased, alleged to be his wife.
