CCD SCHOOLS SHIFT TO BIRTH CERTIFICATES FOR PUPIL REGISTRATION

Qacha’s Nek, Feb.05 — In a move to promote transparency, the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) has announced that students will now be required to register for school using birth certificates instead of health booklets.

This was revealed by Ms. Nteboheleng Jim, the National Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) teacher trainer for Qacha’s Nek, during a 2025 plenary meeting with ECCD teachers and key stakeholders held at the district education offices on Wednesday.

“Transparent registration has been a challenge for us over the years. We will no longer use health booklets for registration; only birth certificates will be accepted,” Ms. Jim stated. She explained that, in the past, some parents misrepresented their children’s ages, and teachers accepted them to boost enrolment numbers. . .
