DCS CALLS FOR UNITY ON FIGHT AGAINST ILLEGAL DUMPING SITES

Berea, Jan 12 — Berea District Council Secretary (DCS) Mr. Paseka Letele says collaborative efforts of community stakeholders are still needed to curb the mushrooming illegal dumping sites of waste and to keep Teyateyaneng town clean.

DCS made the remarks on Friday after the re-launch of Hloekisa Lesotho town cleaning campaign which took place around Teyateyaneng taxi rank.

Mr. Letela said despite the district efforts to restore the town’s image and to reduce the health related risks that can lead to disease outbreaks due to unmanaged waste, they are quite concerned about the deliberate actions of some people who on regular bases litter the town.

He pointed out that efforts to maintain clean towns through the Hloekisa Lesotho campaign is not about the competition, but it also highlights dedication on community engagement activities and the reflection of personal characters towards the environment. . .
