COURT ORDER PREVENTS COUNCILLOR’S SWEARING-IN

Botha-Bothe, Nov. 15 –During today’s swearing-in ceremony for the Botha-Bothe Urban Council, a court order was received, preventing the induction of one council member.

The court order, issued by the High Court of Leribe, specifically restrained Mrs. ‘Mats’epo Mohanoe from being sworn in, pending the resolution of a case filed by Mrs. Mpolokeng Matela. The case pertains to Mrs. Matela’s complaint about the nomination of Mrs. Mohanoe, which took place on July 3, 2023.

Mrs. Matela is the applicant in this legal matter, and the respondents include the Democratic Congress (DC) Constituency No.5 Committee, Mrs. Mants’ebo Mohanoe, Independent Electoral Commission, Ministry of Police, Local Government and Home Affairs, and the Attorney General. . .
