Maseru, Aug.13—The High Court through Justice Mabats’oeneng Hlaele is on August 25 2025 expected to hear an application for recusal in a case in which Mohapi Khofu, Thelingoane Liotlo and Refela Holdings (PTY) LTD are charged with corruption.
The defence alleges that a remark made by the presiding judge that Khofu and Liotlo are the ones going to prison after the case was called and the defence lawyer introduced himself, shows that the judge is likely to be biased. They stated that it confirms the suspicion of partiality by the judge which the accused have held from the beginning of the proceedings.
They added that the statement also affirms that the verdict of guilt and conviction of the accused is at the forefront of the judge’s mind, and she cannot be persuaded by the innocence of the accused or by facts…SM/BM
