Maseru, Oct. 15 — The Officer Commanding Mabote Police Station Superintendent Molefe Mafaufau has strongly appealed to members of Community Policing Committees (CPCs) to refrain from assaulting suspects when they catch them engaging in criminal activities.
He made an appeal in an interview with the Agency when giving updates about the monthly meetings between Mabote Police Station and CPCs under its supervision.
Suprt. Mafaufau said the assault of suspects by members of CPCs hinders Police to do their job upon suspect’s arrival at the Police station as they have to take them to the hospital.
He also said the station received reports that some CPCs seek money from members of the public for unexplained reasons, appealing to CPCs to refrain from doing that.
