D-PERMIT CONDITION AMENDED

Maseru, Jan. 15 — The Traffic Commissioner, Mrs. Mathabo Ts’osane has announced that the Road Transport Board has decided to amend condition number eight of the Road Transport Regulations.

She made an announcement at a press conference held in Maseru on Monday, indicating that taxi-cabs (4+1) will no longer ferry passengers within the radius of 10 kilometers in a local area where the vehicle is stationed but will now operate beyond that radius but within Maseru City Council boundaries.

She clarified that the decision was reached upon realization that Maseru city has expanded, saying 4+1 taxis are meant to ensure urban mobility hence the amendment of this condition.

She also emphasised that the Road Transport Regulations are flexible and could be amended whenever there is need, saying although the decision has been made, they are due to meet with relevant stakeholders who include Urban Councils, Town Clerk, Members of Parliament and representatives from the Ministry of Local Government to decide on when this change will become effective.

She therefore urged the public and transport operators to be ready as an announcement regarding the effectiveness of this change will soon be made. . .
