Maseru, Dec. 09 — Following the Local Government By-elections, Fresh elections and Run off or tie, the Independence Electoral Commission (IEC) announced the Elections Results in Maseru on Saturday.
When announcing the results, (IEC) Chairperson Mr. Mphasa Mokhochane reminded the nation that the Local Government Elections were held on September 29 this year and like any other elections, there were a number of challenges faced, indicating that during these elections, there were 2148 Independent Candidates and off the 51 political parties which registered with IEC, 48 contested for elections.
He indicated that the elections, which were held on Friday were staged in Leribe at four Electoral Divisions (EDs), Maseru two EDs, Mafeteng two EDs, Thaba Tseka one ED and Mokhotlong at one ED making a total of 10 EDs. . .
