Maseru, July 18 — The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) says it has deregistered two more political parties from its list as per the Commission’s Public Relations Manager (PRM) on Thursday.
The Commission’s PRM Mr. Tuoe Hantsi told the Agency on Thursday that the commission has struck off Basotho Social Party (BSP) and Basotho Poverty Solution Party (BPSP) from its list of registered political parties this year.
Mr Hantsi said the reason for having deregistered these two political parties is that they have failed to comply with some of their constitutions as well as the commission’s requirements.
He made an example that IEC has a mandate of ensuring that all the political parties registered with the commission keep up with the set requirements like having office where they operate from.
