Maseru, March 01 – The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) has scored a brace after awarding certificates to two political parties at the ceremony held at its Ware House at the Industrial area in Maseru on Friday.
The two political parties awarded the certificates after meeting the registration requirements are African Transformation Movement (ATM) led by Mr. Tiea Molupe and United African Transformation (UAT) under the tutelage of Dr. Mahali Phamotse.
Speaking at the ceremony, IEC Chairperson Mr. Mphasa Mokhochane said in every family when a child is born, there is jubilation and celebration, IEC was therefore happy to welcome the twins in ATM and UAT in the IEC family.
He noted that IEC went to the October 07 general elections in 2022 with a total of 65 political parties but that the number was reduced to 50 after 15 were deregistered after failing to comply with the set standards…
