Maseru, June 06 — Preparations for King’s birthday celebration are continuing in Maseru district and the event will be held at Rothe on July 17.
Speaking at Heads of Departments meeting held at District Administrator’s (DA) premises, the DA Mr. Ts’epo Lethobane indicated that although there is zero budget for the celebration, it will be staged, indicating that sub-committees were formed within the District CeremonyCommittee with the objective to ensure the celebration becomes a success.
He indicated that such sub-committees, which are made up of government ministries and parastatals, will oversee that activities, which include entertainment, communications, environment, infrastructure, catering, decorations, protocol, health and accommodations are done.
He further highlighted that inspection and rehearsals will commence on June 17 at Rothe, adding that since there is zero budget for the event, proposals and pledges have already been made.
“We are already sponsored with three buses which will ferry heads of departments and other people to Rothe on the day of the celebration,” he added.
Meanwhile, other preparations for transport and budget are also continuing.
The National celebration for the King’s birthday will this year be held in Botha-Bothe on July 17 and the King will be turning 61.
