LEARNERS SENT HOME AS SCHOOLS RE-OPEN

MOHALE’S HOEK, Aug. 04 – Mohale’s Hoek High School learners were seen loitering the streets in great numbers as schools reopened on Monday only to discover that some are expelled for not collecting their reports when they had a break for winter holidays.

Speaking to the District Education Manager Mrs ‘Maposholi Posholi, she indicated that no learner must be expelled from school especially in matters that learners have no control over like collection of reports that have to be collected by the parents or guardians as schools close.

Mrs. Posholi pointed out the communication between the school and parents must be effective for the benefit of a learner.

She highlighted that learners’ feedback is important but children must not be punished for their parents’ negligence.

Mrs. Posholi ordered to the school board and management that all dismissed learners must be recalled with immediate effect to continue with their learning without any distractions.

Mrs ‘Maabiel Rapii, Deputy Principal said learners that have been sent home are the ones whose parents or guardians did not come to collect their reports during Winter break.

Mrs Rapii further noted that it is difficult for them as management and teachers to carry on with learners who have not received their feedback as the next term commences, emphasizing that it is the right of each and every learner to know how they have performed in all subjects that they were assessed on. . .
